How to order

Placing an order with us is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Just a few simple steps online and it’s on its way to you.

  1. Find what you’re looking for – if you already know the name of the item you want to buy you can use the quick search on the left to find it. Alternatively, you can search for something more general (such as ‘personal development books’) or follow the category links on the left (we have tried to make these as descriptive of their contents as possible).
  2. Add to basket – once something’s caught your eye, click the add to basket button on the product details page to store it safely for later checkout. Note that adding an item to your shopping basket doesn’t place you under any obligation to buy it (or anything) from Knowledge is King – you can edit your basket contents at any time by simply following the view link in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Proceed to checkout – when you’ve finished adding items to your basket you can take them through to the checkout by clicking the appropriate button on the view basket page or following the checkout link in the top right-hand corner. From here you will be asked for your billing address & delivery destination details and your preferred method of delivery before being passed to WorldPay’s secure server for payment processing and you can leave the rest to us!

Currency conversion

Although all our prices are displayed in UK Pounds (GBP), Knowledge is King are pleased to be able to offer the facility for our customers to convert total amounts into their own currency. Follow the ‘convert’ link* from the mini basket (top right) to check your basket total figure in a wide range of alternative currencies.

Payment options

Payment maybe made online by Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa Debit, Solo, JCB, or Visa Electron.

Please note that orders cannot be processed without full payment, and no goods can be despatched until a credit / debit card payment has been authorised.

No payment is taken until the date of despatch.

Payment card security

The security of any information you might submit in the course of transacting business with Knowledge is King (especially payment card data) is very important to us. We want you to feel truly confident that your details are safe with us, particularly when ordering from our website.

For this reason, all credit / debit card details are securely transmitted (using 128 bit encryption SSL) online via our trusted payment partner, WorldPay.

WorldPay has been at the forefront of developing secure, comprehensive and straightforward e-payment processing systems since its inception in 1993. They use a range of sophisticated and internationally recognised encryption techniques and fraud-prevention technologies to offer increasingly high levels of security.

Regularly audited by the banking authorities, they are fully compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), so you can be sure that ordering online with Knowledge is King is safe and secure.

VAT charges

Knowledge is King is a VAT registered company. VAT No.: GB 768 6198 68.

What this means is that, all audio CDs, DVDs and other (non-book) items sold by Knowledge is King and destined for locations within the UK (excluding the Channel Islands) and the European Union (EU) are subject to VAT at the standard UK rate of 20%. Paperback and hardback books, on the other hand, are zero rated for VAT.

For customers in the Channel Islands, those outside of the UK and those outside of the EU, VAT is not applicable and any applied will be deducted from the final shopping basket total once a qualifying delivery destination has been established.

Delivery charges for destinations within the tax zones described are also subject to VAT @ 20%.

Other tax charges

Although an order destined for delivery to a location falling outside of the UK and EU tax zones would not be liable for VAT, it is possible that other taxes may be applied to it (by the receiving country or state) upon delivery. Import tax, for example.

As Knowledge is King cannot in any way predict the application or amount of any such charges we cannot unfortunately be held accountable for their settlement. The responsibility for any and all additional tax charges levied by the receiving destination upon delivery of the goods lies with the purchaser.

Knowledge is King delivers goods to the UK, Europe and most other worldwide destinations. A list of delivery destinations currently served is below:

N.B.: Unfortunately, if your intended destination country is not listed above you will be unable to place an order online with us. Please instead contact us for assistance.

Delivery timescales

We aim to despatch all orders the same day and packages destined for the UK should reach their intended recipients within 4 days of the order being placed.

Orders destined for locations overseas will naturally take a little longer and exact timescales for specific destinations can be provided upon request.

If your order should fail to arrive within its specified timeframe please contact us and we will endeavour to track your missing parcel down with our delivery agents (please be advised that external policies may delay this process).

Delivery charges

Standard Delivery and packaging charge for all UK destinations (all items to the same address) is £2.50 for the first item, and £1.00 per additional item (up to a maximum postage charge of £12.50).

Standard Delivery for international orders is £3.50 on the first item and £2.00 thereafter (without limit of postage).

Delivery of smaller items (such as fridge magnets) is FREE OF CHARGE. Such items are not calculated as part of the standard delivery charge, regardless of quantity ordered.

Cancellations & refunds

By law, customers have the right to cancel orders or return items (unopened and in a re-saleable condition) for refund (of the purchase price only, unless faulty or mis-delivered – see below) at any time before the order is despatched or within seven working days of the day after the date the item was delivered.

For faulty or mis-delivered items, customers may either opt for a replacement item or a full refund – including outward and return delivery charges.

For correctly delivered goods of merchantable quality, refunds of outward or return postage fees will not be issued.

We regret that returns of unsealed CDs or DVDs cannot be accepted unless faulty.

To cancel an order with us, please call +44 (0) 1491 201530 or email as soon as possible after placing it. If we receive your instruction prior to despatch then your credit / debit card will not be charged.

If, however, your order has already been despatched, you will need to await its receipt and then return the goods to us (should you still wish to cancel) unopened and in re-saleable condition in order to receive a full refund of the purchase price (excluding postage and packaging).

For your own protection, we recommend that you obtain proof of posting for your return package.

Please note that you will be responsible for both the costs of returning the goods to us and the outward delivery charges, unless we delivered the item to you in error or it is faulty.
